A quick lesson in
artspeak…
Provenance:
The paper trail leading from the artist’s studio to
you. Dealer’s receipts, catalogue entries, auction previews
and gallery labels can make up a valid provenance. Anonymous
anecdotes or colorful yarns do not count. A fact you cannot
verify is worthless.
Certificate of Authenticity:
COAs are often overused and abused. A valid Certificate of
Authenticity should be signed by a living, recognized expert
on the artist, along with his or her contact information—e-mail,
snail mail and phone number. It should not be confused with a so-called “gallery
guarantee”.

International Multi-lingual Service
Through our international, multi-lingual service and solid
contacts with several European committees and foundations,
we can authenticate your work of art.
In some cases, an online expertise may be all you need, helping
to either definitely authenticate the work or point the way
toward more exhaustive study. We will take a look-see and
if an online authentication is not possible or would not be
conclusive, we will not charge you a penny.
Here’s what we need from you:
Your name, address and phone number.
A good digital photo of the work, front and back.
The medium or technique (oil, pastels, silkscreen)
Exact dimensions expressed in inches or centimetres.
Copy the text of any labels or stickers on the work
Copy any inscriptions, front or back.
For prints: give us all the information written in the
bottom margin (signature, edition numbers, etc.). If possible, hold up the work on paper to the light and describe the watermark.
The more you can tell us about
the work the better.
Where was it purchased and for how much?
Do you have any documentation (provenance, Certificate
of Authenticity)?
Was it sold with some sort of warranty?
